some bits of summer

i really need to keep up with this! especially since the big move out is less than a month away :( *SIGH* oh yeah, i'm also switching the date of my flight. when ever i tell someone i'm flying out on 9/11, i always get some sort of worried/wtfareyouserious response and it's really getting to my head. yesterday at work, one of our regulars who is a body guard for the Governator asked me when i was leaving. i told him 9/11. in response, he said "honestly, i think you should switch your flight date. even WE don't fly out that day--and we carry guns!" so yeah. that got me kinda scurred...

Anyways, PICTURES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

in the beginning of summer, i baked quite a few times. i made these with wai. i was pretty proud of these cupcakes. i was in love with that icing! CHECK OUT THAT SHEEEEEEEN! they were salty chocolate cupcakes with caramel filling and a sea salt garnish.

making caramel for the first time

a couple of days later, wai and i made more cupcakes. these were cheesecake cupcakes! you can't see the bottom but it had a yummy graham cracker crust. we made these for a surprise picnic for Ashley's birthday. they turned out delish

here's the strawberry version. (sorry if some of these are blurry, i took them with my camera phone) i like how the marbling came out

Wai, Ashley and I went to this thing in Chinatown called "Make It Funky". it was a music/art festival with live music, a bunch of vendors, and food trucks. food trucks are all the rage right now and we managed to try some food from a BBQ truck and a shaved ice truck.

My BFFs, Wai and Ashley

the shaved ice we got from The Original Shaved Ice Truck. it was soo soft!

saw some art......

....and live painting. this guy was working his spray cans on this one. i thought it was cute haha

since my parents are on vacation at Cambodia now, Richard and I have been holding down the fort at the donut shop. it's been going quite smoothly but i have to admit, i do miss them sometimes, lol. i hope they're having fun!

since my mom is gone, i have to do the baking now. i made these muffins! :) i have to make them every 3 days.

Do you know the Muffin Man? well, he's actually a lady named Mawissha Chhan.

Here's when my family and I went to drop my parents and Sonich (he went with them to Cambodia) off at LAX

The boys in my family
